ROOM 9 in the CORRIDOR OF SOUND, NINTH FLOOR
MICROPHASE AUDIO DESIGN
The new and the classic come together in Room 9 of the Corridor of Sound, with MICROPHASE AUDIO DESIGN bringing the best of its latest small speaker designs, together with some classic audio equipment to drive them.
Microphase Audio Design (M.A.D. for short) has its core design forte in small speakers designed to sound incredibly good on their own, reproducing instrument timbres with accuracy and speed, thanks to their highly-inert marine-grade birch plywood, and bespoke drivers mostly sourced from famous French manufacturer Audax. These speakers have a reputation for one of the best midrange sounds in the world. On demonstration at HIFI2020 will be both the SAT MK1 and the SAT MK2, pictured above. The SAT MK1 is a close replica of Microphase's original SAT introduced in 1984, just 10mm bigger to accommodate the newer chassis of the bespoke Audax main driver, while a new high performance Audax tweeter replaces the very popular TW10 from the original. M.A.D. makes floorstanding speakers too, and will be bringing the three-way time-aligned TOWER 1 monoliths (pictured) to the show. But that's not all! M.A.D. has a passion for classic hi-fi, and will be driving their speakers with classic kit including a 1972 limited edition Barney Oliver by HP vintage amplifier, and an upgraded 1992 Bryston 3B. It sounds like unmissable stuff in Room 9, on the 9th floor at HIFI2020! |
